Cold Isostatic Press
The cold isostatic press (CIP) is also known as a rubber press.
Ceramic powder and metal powder fill a rubber mold, which is then dipped into the pressure vessel. The powder is compressed at a maximum water pressure of 400 MPa. Isostatic actions (hydrostatic pressure) can also form complicated shapes which cannot be compressed without a uniaxial press or machine press. The pin closure pressure vessel adopted by Nikkiso is installed in thousands of presses around the world due to the company’s over 40 year experience in manufacturing.
Applications
Powder forming of refractory, insulator, isotropic graphite, high-melting-point metals, cemented carbides, tool steel, sintered filters, artificial bones, resin powder, food processing etc.

Abundant rubber molding technology
- Our Higashimurayama Plant has a demo unit for CIP processing that is available and open to all for molding tests using rubber molds.
- We provide rubber mold design and consulting services to customers wanting to mold powder into desired shapes.
Large cold isostatic press
For large CIP machines (rubber presses) above 600 mm in inside diameter, we use the yoke frame pressure vessel or special screw type vessel. We import and sell Belgium-based EPSI’s large cold isostatic presses.
