Deep UV-LEDs
Medical
APPLICATION
Deep UV-LEDs (DUV-LED) can be used in these situations.

For skin therapy
For patients' skin health
For therapy for skin diseases such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, etc., pharmaceutical products such as external medicine (topical cream), oral medicine (medicinal drinks), etc. are generally used. However, depending on the patient, they are not versatile, because sometimes they are ineffective or have side effects, etc.
In some skin diseases, a healing effect is recognized also by irradiating ultraviolet rays of a specific wavelength. Although medical equipment using UV mercury lamps have been put into practical use up to now, equipment that is significantly compact and safe compared with conventional equipment is achieved by adopting Deep UV-LEDs that are compact, wavelength can be selected, have long service life, low power consumption, and are mercury free, etc.

At medical sites
Making every places in hospitals hygienic
In hospitals, all places such as waiting rooms, patient rooms, examination rooms, operation rooms, etc., must be kept hygienic to prevent infection. For that purpose, all means, such as filters, chemicals, UV mercury lamps, etc., have been utilized. However, there are both Pros and Cons and, in particular, use of the UV mercury lamps, chemicals, etc. have been limited from the viewpoint of size and safety. Deep UV-LEDs, which are compact and mercury free, can significantly contribute to achieving hygienic hospital environments.

In hemodialysis treatment field
Achieving dialysis dose monitoring in order to contribute to appropriate treatment
A common way to check whether hemodialysis patients have been treated sufficiently is blood exam results before and after treatment.
Dialysis Dose Monitor (abbr. DDM) continuously measures the composition change of spent dialysis fluid *11by UV light absorption, and determines dialysis dose. Dialysis dose is displayed in the screen to ensure if the patient have been treated sufficiently in every each treatment.
In this optical measurement, Deep UV-LEDs have the advantages of being compact, of single wavelength, and the ability to select arbitrary wavelengths.
Similarly, applications in other analytical uses in the medical field, such as hemanalysis, etc., are also expected.

Merits of adopting deep UV-LEDs
They are compact, low power consumption,
mercury free, and contribute to the security of medical treatment.
Deep UV-LEDs are compact, low power consumption, mercury free, etc., and can be used
with peace of mind at medical institutions.
Furthermore, purification by ultraviolet rays has the advantage that ultraviolet rays
definitely work to irradiate the target bacteria, and it also works on bacteria that is resistant to
chemicals and heat because it does not allow the bacteria resistance properties.
In addition to this, Deep UV-LED has various features which are advantageous for analysis,
such as being compact, of single wavelength, the ability to select wavelengths,
ease of switching properties on and off, directionality of light, long service life,
low power consumption, mercury free, etc.
